Looking into reasons of school violence

There are numerous factors responsible for rise of violent behavior among kids. The factors need to be studied properly and then a detailed course of action must be drawn to fight this menace.

 

The schools across the United States of America are grappling with the issue of school violence. A number of students are getting violent and becoming a source of trouble for other students, teachers and parents.

 

What are the reasons behind school violence?

 

Numerous factors can be reason behind school violence:

 

1. Atmosphere at home: If the parents of the children fight and abuse each other at home in presence of kids, then they are too going to pick up this habit. They would practice this habit at school and in turn harm other students and their teachers.                                                                                                                           
2. Easy availability of weapons: Today weapons are easily accessible through illegal means. Thus children can easily lay their hands on such weapons and use them to hurt, threaten or bully their schoolmates. They can even kill other people with these weapons. There are numerous incidents throughout history when violent students killed numerous others. For example Virginia Tech massacre that took place in the year 2007. It was one the most dreadful incidents of school massacre in history of the United States. The incident took place on 16 April 2007 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, United States. Thirty two people were killed by student named Seung Hui Cho in 2 separate attacks. Apart from that numerous people were injured in the attack and Seung Hui Cho killed himself later on. This was the most horrific shooting incident committed by a single person ever in the USA.                                                                
3. Depression and anxiety: Violent behavior can rise among the children due to any type of stress, anxiety or depression. Sometimes violence becomes the source to vent out the depression for the child. This violence can include theft, rape, bullying and killing other people etc.                                                                                               
4. Absence of love: There are chances that if the child is deprived of love and affection, he/she might end up becoming violent.                                                                   
5. Unsupportive teachers: Frustration can creep up in children if they are not helped by their parents or teachers in times of need. This frustration leads to violent behavior. Thus the teachers need to help the students when they are in difficult situations. The credibility of the teachers is under question if they are not able to help their students in such times.                                                                                       
6. Career uncertainty: If the child is unsure about his/her career and unable to decide with in what does he/she need to move, there is a strong possibility that the child may end up being violent. Such behavior among kids would destroy the child’s career apart from the havoc that such children are capable of wreaking in other children. Thus, career counselors can also be employed to prevent children from becoming violent. The career counselors are full of knowledge and experience in handling such kids.

 

There are numerous reasons of rise of violent behavior among kids but it can’t be treated using any medicine, but can only be eliminated by love and affection.
